Get ready to roar! Young Hollywood is getting a royal boost! Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Beyoncé and JAY-Z, is officially joining the cast of Disney’s highly anticipated Lion King prequel, “Mufasa: The Lion King.”
Disney made the announcement with a trailer which was released via Youtube, accompanied by a full cast list, giving audiences a glimpse of the project.
In the latest film of the Lion King Franchise, which is a follow up to the 2019 live action version “The Lion King” it explores the back story of Mufasa and his journey to exploring his destiny along with Taka- A sympathetic lion he meets by chance. Together they explore the wild, working together “to evade a threatening and deadly foe” – as the description for the trailer reads.
Blue Ivy and Mum, Beyoncé would play onscreen Mum and Daughter as Beyoncé reprises her role as Nala in the upcoming musical film. Other cast members include Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Timon and Pumbaa, and John Kani as Rafiki, among others. They would be joined by a new crop of talent including Aaron Pierre, Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, and Thandiwe Newton.
The young star was famously part of the 2019’s ‘The Lion King”; lending vocals to her mother’s hit “Brown Skin Girl” which earned her her first Grammy. She even made Billboard history as the youngest female artist to enter The Hot 100 Chart, a record which has been broken by her own sister – Rumi Carter.
The new film will feature original songs from accomplished songwriter Lin Manuel Miranda and would be directed by Barry Jenkins and written by Jeff Nathanson. It would be released on 20th December 2024.”’
